Lonely Gourmet was created as a result of Laurie’s being sick and tired of eating out, eating fast food and frozen food. As she was speaking with other singles, she realized they were doing the same thing – eating foods they wouldn’t feed their best friends, significant others and/or children. To bring the problem into better focus, Laurie decided singles needed one place to go to talk about the care and feeding of their most valuable, best-loved friend – themselves.

Laurie has traveled extensively and has lived on 2 continents and 7 different states; she most recently moved from Deadwood, South Dakota to Austin, Texas – talk about culture shock. Along the way, she’s picked up the best of food varieties from each different culture.

While she’s not a trained chef, Laurie is a foodie at heart and loves coming up with great recipes created just for singles, especially after having been a single parent, a married lady with a houseful and then suddenly single, living alone, almost overnight.

Laurie lives in the Live Music Capitol of the World, Austin, Texas, keeping it, well, not so weird, and is a recent cancer survivor.
