Today, things are hustle and bustle, with everyone constantly chasing after the newest, biggest, brightest, fastest next big thing. Who has time for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches? Let’s roll down to the local fast food joint and grab a burger. And if you’re single, you’re always grabbing a burger, pizza, frozen dinner or other empty food just to fill the void in your stomach. [...] Have you seen TLC’s newest reality show “Extreme Couponing?” I watched a couple of episodes over the weekend and was intrigued, up until the point where I remembered that I’ve never been able to use coupons as a single person, mostly because of lack of time, lack of motivation and really, not wanting to buy the things the coupons represent. What about you? Do you use coupons as a single person? [...] Despite all the media attention and information we receive on eating healthy, we’re bombarded daily by convenience, be it from the television commercials with big, fat, juicy burgers that aren’t so big, fat and juicy when you get them, to cooking shows highlighting fine dining that we don’t think we can ever do for ourselves at home. So we get frustrated and think that those things are for other people, not for us; after all, we’re alone, right? We aren’t worth anyone pampering us, so why should we do it for ourselves? Right? [...] Ah, the common spatula – it’s designed to flip burgers, pancakes, french toast, steaks without sticking. It has been known to be used to scrape the ice off a college student’s windshield, pick up doggie doo or, when I was a kid, to spank an errant child.
